Three men arrested over Leicester explosion that left five dead

Three men have been arrested following the Leicester flat explosion that killed five people. The men, all aged in their 30s, were arrested on suspicion of manslaughter. One of the suspects is from East Anglia, the second from the north west, and the third is from the East Midlands.
Leicestershire Police has stressed there was no evidence the blast was terror related. Mary Ragoobar, 46, and her two sons Shane, 18, and Sean, 17, lived in the flat on Hinckley Road, which was demolished in the huge blast on Sunday night.

No further details are being released about these individuals at this stage. Sunday's blast killed five people and saw five others hospitalised for their injuries. The explosion destroyed recently-opened Polish grocery store Zabka and the Ragoobeers’ two-storey rented flat.
Mary Rajoobeer, 46, and her two sons Shane, 18, and Sean, 17, who lived in the flat above the supermarket which was destroyed in the explosion, are missing. Leah Beth Reek, 18, who is Shane’s girlfriend, is also missing, as is 22-year-old Viktorija Ljevleva who is thought to have been working in the supermarket at the time of the explosion.

In a statement, Leicestershire Police said: ‘No further details will be released about these individuals at this stage.’ Officers added: ‘Whilst we will not disclose further details at this stage, we stress that there remains no evidence that the events of Sunday night are in any way terrorist related.’ Human remains from five people were recovered from the wreckage yesterday, but given the devastation at the site, officers said it may take ‘considerable time’ before they are formally identified.

One of five other injured people taken to hospital following the blast remains in critical condition with life-threatening injuries, the force added. Work is continuing at the scene in what is still an emergency services ‘rescue operation’ and an investigation into the cause is ongoing.
