Driver who crammed seven friends into van before crash which killed 19-year-old woman faces jail

A driver who crammed seven friends into a van for a night out before a crash which killed a 19-year-old pal has been warned he faces a "substantial jail sentence".
Sammy Jo Davies died after a stolen red LDV Maxus van crashed into parked cars as it raced through narrow streets in Aberdare, south Wales.
Driver Kyle Perkins, 25, sobbed uncontrollably as he appeared in court to plead guilty to three charges including causing the death of Sammy-Jo in the crash in August.
six others were taken to hospital with serious injuries after the crash.
Both Perkins' and the victim’s families had to be kept at opposite ends of the courtroom and flanked by police officers after angry confrontations.

Perkins confirmed his name and pleaded guilty to three charges - with each plea prompting sobbing from the public gallery.
He pleaded guilty to causing serious injury by
, causing death by dangerous driving, and aggravated vehicle taking, along with admitting driving without insurance.
Judge Richard Twomlow told him he was adjourning sentencing him until January so a report could be prepared.
He warned Perkins: “It will be a considerable and substantial sentence.”

Following Sammy Jo Davies' death, hundreds of comments were posted to social media expressing their shock and to pay tribute to a “beautiful, lovely” girl.
In response to a post by the South Wales Police Merthyr Tydfil and Rhondda Cynon Taf page, emotional tributes were issued by loved ones.
Facebook user Caitlin Emma Baker wrote: “R.I.P. Heaven has gained a beautiful angel. Will be missed by so many.”
Christine Rodda Hayton posted: “R.I.P Sammy taken way to soon thoughts are with your mam and brothers and all your family and friends.”
Rachel Davies added: “Soooo sad what a beautiful lovely girl, sleep tight Sammy R.I.P.”
