Thieves Steal Shark From San Antonio Aquarium

A shark was stolen from the San Antonio Aquarium on Saturday by two adult males and one woman. Police say the animal was hidden in a stroller after the trio kidnapped it.

One of the male suspects removed the two-foot long gray horn shark from its tank around 2:15 p.m. and exited with the two other suspects after placing it in a stroller.

Surveillance footage captured the suspects exiting the aquarium and one of the suspects left with the animal in a Chevrolet Silverado truck

Leon Valley Police Chief Jeff Salvaggio described the random crime in a statement:

“It’sobviously somebody that knows something about the sharks and knows something about what they were doing and why they were doing it. It’s not random. There is no doubt in my mind this is not a random theft“

Texas Parks and Wildlife Science Director Michael Fisher says grey horn sharks adapt well in captivity and are found in the Pacific Ocean.

The truck used to transport the shark was found by police Monday evening and was process at 5:30 pm.

The public is being called for by the LVPD to help find the shark and its captors
